Sandwiches for the Hungry
This group will be making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches- more than 150 of them! The group will then travel down to the Samaritan Center on Montgomery Street to hand out the sandwiches.
Jams are needed! If you wish, please bring jars of the best jams this week or next Sunday.

Food Drive
Donations of food will be sought for the food pantry on the Westside and in North Syracuse area.
On Friday, April 24th between 2:30-5pm the grocery bags will be passed out door to door in local neighborhoods, meet in Steckel Hall.
On Sunday these bags will be collected, and later delivered to the food pantries.

These kits will be assembled and distributed throughout the community on Mission Sunday. We would like to include a specialized gift in each. Suggestions include but are not limited to book marks, knitted wash cloths, painted pottery, poetry, small carpentry items, stationery…the sky is the limit!

Talents needed!
One of the projects for mission Sunday, April 26, 2009 is a spiritual survivor kit. These kits will be assembled and distributed throughout the community on mission Sunday. We would like to include a specialized gift in each kit. If you have a special talent you would like to share/donate which can fit inside a lunch size bag please contact Bridgette Hunt or the church office. Suggestions include but are not limited to book marks, knitted wash cloths, painted pottery, poetry, small carpentry items, stationery…the sky is the limit. Use your imagination! (These items do not have to be the same for all bags. If you can donate one item or ten we will welcome all donations.)

Starting United Methodist House Churches - May 2, 2009
What is a house Church? Why is there a current trend in our culture for house churches? What is the Biblical basis for a house church? Is a house church the United Methodist way? How do you start a house church? All these questions and more will be addressed by Bill Tenny-Brittian, well known for his work in this area. Bill’s book House Church Manual has been on the cutting edge of this expanding ministry. You can learn more about Bill at www.billtennybrittian.com.

At a time when Christianity is growing in diversity, House Churches, especially when connected with a parenting church, addresses the spiritual growth of those who might not feel at ease in our congregations.
Bill is preparing a workshop designed for clergy and laity with this New York area in mind. The event will be held at Andrews Memorial United Methodist Church, on May 2, from 10am-3pm. The cost is $40. (Lunch is included) The event is sponsored by the New Church Starts committee of the NCNY Conference. For registration, please contact the church office.
